Warrior of the Month
Meet Neiva!
At Zen, we believe in the power of kindness and positivity, and this month we are thrilled to shine a light on Neiva, our remarkable Warrior of the Month!
Neiva embodies the spirit of uplifting energy that resonates within our community, reminding us all of the beauty of sharing compassion and support. Join us in celebrating Neiva's wonderful contributions and learn more about her below.
1. How long have you been practicing at Zen?
Neiva: I have been practicing at Zen for about a year and a half.
2. What does belonging to the studio mean to you?
Neiva: Belonging to the studio means I am a part of a community of incredible individuals. Everyone is looking to better themselves and is cheering for others. It is a judgment-free zone where teachers and classmates are happy to see one another.
3. What are the benefits you have found by attending classes/special events?
Neiva: I am a lot stronger now than I ever was before. I've gained some amazing friends by going to class. I love checking the schedule and knowing that I am going to see my favorite instructors and friends.
4. What is your favorite pose and why?
Neiva: I have a love/hate relationship with the Plank series on Gliders. I couldn't do it at all to start because they are so hard. However this is where I can see and feel the most progress in my fitness journey here at the studio.
5. Any advice you would like to share with newbie yogis?
Neiva: Keep going and keep trying. No one expects perfection, we are just happy you came and showed up for yourself. Consistency pays off and that is where you will see the most growth and transformation.

Get to know her more below.
About Taylor:
1. How long have you been practicing at Zen Yoga & Wellness?
Taylor: I’ve been practicing at Zen for a little over a year now. I began back in July of 2023 and have made it a part of my routine ever since.
2. What does belonging to the studio mean to you?
Taylor: Belonging to the studio has gifted me so much- it’s become a space for me to go each day and mindfully dedicate time to myself. Zen has built up a community of people who are so genuine, kind and welcoming- on top of getting to participate in amazing classes, I also look forward to seeing everyone and sharing stories of our lives.
3. What are the benefits you have found by doing yoga/barre/pilates?
Taylor: Before joining Zen, I struggled with routines and building in time for myself and my body. I went from being someone who was
hesitant and nervous to move, to being wildly proud of knowing what I am capable of learning. Infusing a range of yoga, barre, and pilates into my daily habits has helped me build strength, both mentally and physically, and I am so deeply grateful for it. The balance of classes that range from turning me into a sweaty puddle on the floor, to leaving me with an immense feeling of calm and control, has helped me find a much better version of myself. One of my best decisions has been to join Zen and infuse these classes into my life, and I am so excited to see the growth that is yet to come.
4. What is your favorite pose and why?
Taylor: Hmmm… I have a love hate relationship with side planks. I struggle holding them for prolonged periods of time (like anything more than 20 seconds) but I can also see my growth from where I started and where I am now, and that's a good feeling. I also genuinely love a supported bridge pose- I could melt into that block forever.
5. Any advice you would like to share with newbie yogis?
Taylor: Give yourself grace and show up for yourself with no expectations. Every day makes every movement feel different- this practice provides an opportunity to tune into yourself and listen. Show up, rest when you need rest, and have fun. :)
Meet September's Warrior of the Month, Bob Swartz!
We are thrilled to announce Bob as our Warrior of the Month for September! Bob has become a vibrant part of our Zen community, attending our Strength & Balance Class on Mondays and Senior Cardio Interval Class on Wednesdays with our exceptional instructor, Debi. His dedication to maintaining an active lifestyle not only exemplifies his personal commitment to fitness but also aligns perfectly with our mission of fostering personal growth and community connection.
Bob embodies the spirit of Zen, as he passionately shares, "The people that show up are great; we have a family-type relationship with those who have been here, and we welcome newcomers. It is a fun, worthwhile activity, and I plan on attending as long as I can. I need to keep moving. There are many, many seniors out there doing nothing when they should be at Zen Yoga extending their lives." His words resonate deeply with our focus on holistic wellness and the importance of staying active, especially for seniors.
We are deeply grateful for Bob's contributions and the warmth he brings to our studio. His commitment serves as an inspiration for all of us, and we invite newcomers to experience the welcoming atmosphere at Zen. Here, everyone is valued, and we encourage you to join our supportive community, where together we can thrive and grow.
Warrior of the Month - October
Meet Nicole Carlson
Meet October's Warrior of the Month, Nicole Carlson!
We are thrilled to announce that the radiant Nicole is our Warrior of the Month for October!
Get to know her more here...
1. How long have you been practicing at Zen Yoga & Wellness?
Nicole: I was a transferred want to be “yogi” way back when. Now it’s official! I take my practice everywhere - so since the birth of Zen!
2. What does belonging to the studio mean to you?
Nicole: I have been so fortunate to have found a studio that offers a variety of virtual classes for people who cannot make it into the studio and they VALUE everyday you show up for yourself. Each instructor has their own story and I truly believe that is what continues to grow the studio without compromising the quality. The inspiration, the grit and the endless reminders that no matter what class you are in - honor your body and do what is best for you.
3. What are the benefits you have found by doing yoga/barre/pilates?
Nicole: The complete truth - my life. If the studio didn’t offer a level of comfort, convenience, and support - my neurological disorder would have won and I would be disabled. Instead, Zen keeps my mind and body at ease and helps rebuild my mental and physical muscles.
4. What is your favorite pose and why?
Nicole: Any pose where the sun is gleaming on me. Again, another convenience of virtual yoga. If I had to pick one - it would be the airplane, it’s so fun.
5. Any advice you would like to share with newbie yogis?
Nicole: To the newbies, allow yourself a good solid month to build a routine, try ALL the classes, and also give each instructor a chance. The diversity among Zen is what makes them “Zen” and what helps members be better at what we do every day - it starts with us. Take the time, start slow, build up to what is convenient for you and make it happen.
Our health is non-negotiable, do this for you and no one else. The community is energetic and supportive. From a welcomed environment to a healthy mind, body and soul… Zen has you.
P.S. they have the best apparel and work from other local vendors in the studio that are perfect for any occasion.
Nicole's dedication and passion for wellness light up our community, even from behind a screen. Nicole embodies the spirit of Zen, attending classes with an upbeat energy that inspires us all to stretch our limits and reach for new heights. Let’s take a cue from Nicole and continue to embrace our wellness journeys together, whether in person or virtually! Remember, every class is an opportunity to grow, connect, and shine - just like Nicole!
